Before & After School
MP3
The mission of the MuncieP3 After School and Summer Enrichment program is to ensure that all children are proficient in reading by 3rd grade. It begins with students the summer before kindergarten and follows them through 3rd grade. Since its inception in 2010, the program has been funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant from the Indiana Department of Education, as well as generous gifts from the Ball Brothers Foundation and Heart of Indiana United Way.
Huffer
Huffer Memorial Children’s Center began as a dream of Mrs. Ida Huffer in the early 1950’s. Mrs. Huffer taught at West Longfellow Elementary School and had a heart for children. After her passing in 1957, her estate was set aside for an organization to provide quality child care for children in the Whitely community, and on February 18, 1965, the Huffer Memorial Children’s Center was incorporated. The center received its official not-for-profit status in 1966.
